The only thing that is proven to be effective against tyranny isn’t access to guns but access to accurate information and quality education. Hitler actually loosened gun laws for certain members of the population, but it doesn’t matter how many guns you have when you fall to propaganda. It’s no coincidence the countries with the most successful gun laws also have some of the top public education systems in the world. The more educated the populace is the less fear/misery for a would-be tyrant to exploit, thus the less people feel the need to be armed. Everybody wins.

You said a fetus should be valued based on its potential rather than its current state. My analogy simply replaces fetus with an illegal immigrant.

To cherry pick history for human failure rather than understand the current human successes in the world today is focusing on fear. You don’t see conservatives running cars into protesters, shooting hispanics in malls, blacks in churches, or mailing bombs to Democrats? I do. They are not so quiet as you pretend.
