It may be surprising to some but Iran actually has elections, the people can choose their President, their legislators, and even the body that elects the Supreme Leader. While the latter body, the Assembly of Experts, are elected, the people have no say in who they choose for a lifetime appointment to be the ultimate authority.

The parallels should already be apparent for those familiar with the American system. But wait, there’s more:

The current Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, is a far-right religious fanatic, the Assembly of Experts’ very first appointment way back in 1989. …

The fact that the Founders set out to create a system where rural American’s voices weren’t drowned out by larger, more urban, States is one that we hear over and over. Especially among Republicans. What they don’t say is the result is a system where land has more value than people, at least when it comes to both the Electoral College and the Senate. The two most consequential elected bodies in the nation.

Anyone with even basic knowledge of American politics knows the Electoral College elects the President, who has plenty of power himself. This includes writing Executive Orders as well as, more crucially, nominating judges to federal benches, including to the Supreme Court. The Senate then has the power to confirm or reject these nominees to lifetime appointments on these courts, who can then rule in their own right. …

To celebrate Go Topless Day 2020 here is a free version, sharable outside Medium, of the earlier article.

Quite a few years have passed since 2016’s So You Want To Free the Nipple and it was apparent it needed some major updating. So it was decided, a new decade, a new article. Since August also coincides with International GoTopless Day, it seemed the right month to publish.

This will be a little different than the first version, being more in line with last year’s 20 Things That Could Change If Topless Equality Was Normalized for easier reading. …

Whether it is the Democratic National Committee or the voters themselves in this year’s primaries, it appears Democrats are intent on shooting themselves in the foot yet again.

Here are 10 things that demonstrate that:

  1. The party establishment is bucking the majority of Dem primary voters and even the majority of Americans by opposing Medicare For All.
  2. They also quietly dropped calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks in the party platform, which their nominee Joe Biden ran on — evidently winning.
  3. They sidelined popular progressives like AOC in favor of Republicans at their Convention. Only giving her 60 seconds for a procedural nomination of Sanders, who himself only got time to figuratively bend the knee to Biden. Thus, the Democratic Party seems little interested in seeking progressive votes, which everyone knows worked great in 2016... …

With royal weddings, babies, & drama flooding the news over the years here are 15 reasons why the UK Monarchy should bid adieu:

  1. Commonwealth Realms should have a Head of State who actually lives in their State.
  2. It is a form of caste system whereby people are considered better/more important than others simply because of the vagina they fell out of or who they married.
  3. It’s an insult to anyone who’s ever achieved greater status and wealth through actual hard work, rather than just being born/married into it (this does not just apply to royals).
  4. The similarities to a cult are uncanny. …

It may not be on 5th Avenue, or with a firearm, but Trump’s insistence at holding his Tulsa rally in the middle of a pandemic has claimed its first well-known victim. Prominent black businessman and co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, Herman Cain, has succumbed to a strain of COVID19, according to his website.

Cain, along with approximately 6,200 people, were in attendance at Trump’s late June rally in Tulsa and it is where he is said to have caught the virus. Like a modern Jim Jones, Trump’s diehards flocked to him despite warnings from health officials, and lo and behold, they died hard. Or rather quite slow and painfully over a month as is common with COVID19 victims. Cain himself had high risk of the virus due to his previous health issues, including Cancer he had recovered from, yet was apparently undeterred. …

Maybe we need a more in-depth strategy that breaks down what racism really means that goes beyond just one blanket term for everybody. Perhaps we should start to acknowledge there are different types and severities of racism. People’s understanding of what is racist is also different, depending on their upbringing and education.

Tweeting #AllLivesMatter may be an intentional misdirection to avoid acknowledging the struggles of black communities but it is not exactly on the same level as Jim Crow. It could be starting on the path towards such things but perhaps we could help people off it with more constructive language other than just “you’re racist”. …

An example of a fake list going around often attributed to Epstein’s flight logs.

At face value the seemingly growing group that calls itself Q or Qanon appear to be just concerned citizens looking to root out corruption and child abuse. Looking closer, it’s clear it really is just a front for extreme right-wing conspiracy theories spread by badly photoshopped memes and bogus stories. Not even a Brietbart article or Alex Jones video to back it up. Originating on 4Chan in 2017, Qanon has been infecting gullible minds worldwide and doesn’t seem to be slowing.
